Storage Tips
We hope these storage tips help with your packing and storage.

General
• Store frequently used items towards the front of your unit for easy access.
• Leave a center aisle whenever possible.
• Stack everything two inches from the walls to allow for circulation.
• Store mirrors, pictures, mattresses and couches on end with protective covers.
• Place shelving against the walls and use for storing boxes and small items.
• Do not assume that your homeowner’s or renter’s insurance will cover your belongings
while in storage. You may need to purchase insurance.
Get more information here or contact us at 781-391-0117 for details.
• Make a list ahead of time of packing materials you might need such as boxes, bubble pack, tape, marking pens, mattress and furniture covers, etc. Check our moving supplies page for packing supplies.
• Always cover mattresses and bedsprings in plastic bags, leaving an opening in the bag.

Clothing
• Keep out-of-season clothes accessible. You may have your belongings in storage
longer than initially anticipated and might want access to your clothing.
• Clothing that ordinarily hangs in a closet should be packed in a wardrobe carton.
• If storing woolen items, use cedar chips to prevent moth damage.

Papers and Books
• Pack books flat in small boxes that weigh no more than 30 lbs. for easy lifting.

Appliances
• Clean thoroughly and drain all water
• Keep refrigerator and freezer doors slightly open.
• Utilize space inside appliances for more storage room.
• Remove and discard vacuum cleaner bags.
